How to check the writing speed of your CD?

Hi i have Sony branded CD-R, but it didn't mention the write speed of it. Is there a way for me to check the write speed of the CD?

cd's used to say on them if they were 700mb / write speed of 12x, 24x, 52x, etc, but i found long ago your dvd-rw could be a 48x writer and you could use 12x media and burn them at 48x without problems.

Burn speed is not important. What is important is a good, accurate "burn".

Choose the slowest speed your burning software offers and always choose verify.

There is nothing more aggravating than a faulty burn of an ISO file.
