However due to my work nature, I require a serial port to connect to other brands of hardware for configuration, settings, etc. As such I bought a USB to Serial convertor ( ATEN - Model UC232A ) with the latest drivers. I plug this convertor onto the USB port and the OS sees it ..

However on the control panel, this device was under unspecified catergory.
Further checking ( under properties ) indicates that this device ..
Manufacturer : Unavailable
Model: USB Serial Controller D
Model No: Unavailable
I have tried plugging into ther other 3 USB ports and they shows the same situation as above. I even went to ATEN web site to down load their latest driver for this device but still having this issue. Running SFC results in no errors.
Please help ..
