    Microsoft wireless mouse 5000

I have this great mouse and it works okay with the generic driver with Windows 7. However the software it came with lets you program the buttons and also see the power left in the batteries and the wireless strength.

If I install the software it came with the scrolling is not adjustable. It's way too slow. I can't deal with it because the scrolling is so slow but I want the extra capabilities the software has.

I have tried other USB ports for the signal-sender it comes with, replaced the batteries, cleaned the mouse, ect......

I think it has something to do with the software or maybe Windows 7. It works fine in Vista.

Has anyone seen this? Do you know what might fix it? All I need is to make it scroll faster. Is there something besides the registry I can do?

EDIT: HERE IS THE ANSWER FOR ANYONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

MS Fix to Wireless 5000 Mouse does NOT fix the problem

The Wireless Mouse 5000 is advertised as working on a wide variety of surfaces. Unfortunately, on every surface (rubber mouse pad, gel mouse pad, plain paper, desktop surface, etc.) the mouse will function normally for a while and then the pointer becomes sluggish and unpredictable. I initially installed the IntelliType 7.1 software that came with the mouse and tried the fix suggested by MS, which is to uninstall the 7.1 and install the 8.01 version of the software for Windows 7.

The mouse exhibts the same problems with version 8.01 as with 7.1.

Removed IntelliPoint software and Drives - still does not work

After removing the IntelliPoint software and drives, the mouse works for a few seconds or minutes, then becomes less reponsive, and then the pointer cannot be control with enough accuracy to click on any specific menu item or other type of selection.

Any ideas on other fixes to try?

I have the same mouse for over a year with no problems. My driver is 8.15.403.0
Any adjustment needed is in the mouse program. Just search and type mouse and you will find it.

Like Layback Bear, I've been using this mouse for well over a year. Drivers are 8.0.219.0 and have had no problems. I just run it on a bare wooden desktop which I clean whenever I spill my coffee!!

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and a 2006 Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000. I noticed long ago this mouse wasn't working with this new system, and I didn't realize it was not compatible with Windows 7 until today, so I downloaded the latest software and drivers and did all the install steps right, and the computer shows the mouse is connected and battery strength is good, but I can't get it to function at all. Can someone please help me resolve this? Very frustrating!!! Thanks if you can!

Windows 7 driver for Wireless Mouse 5000

I have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 & Wireless Keyboard 3000 that I want to use with my laptop. I installed the software previously without any problem on my desktop, which runs Windows XP. I want to use the wireless mouse & keyboard with my laptop which runs Windows 7. However, the software doesn't want to install and returns an error message that it is incompatible with Windows 7.
Is there a driver available for the mouse/keyboard to run on Windows 7?
    Thank you.

Thank you for the links to the driver files, but there seems to be another problem:
I couldn't install them since "this software version is not supported on 64-bit operating systems"....?
