Windows 7 RC and HP C7280 All-in-One Printer

I am now running Vista x 32 but I have access to Windows 7 RC. Does anybody know if the full software and updates for HP C7280 run in either Vista compatability mode, or preferably with no mods. I know basic drivers are included, but I'm seeking as much functionality as possible. Thank you for your help! First post here!

    Follow-Up to C7280 Printer Question

Thank you. A follow-up. Did you have to internally modify the setup file in any way? I don't want to do that. Are you using USB or network connections? I am networked. Can you fax and scan from your printer? Did all the driver updates load in successfully? Are you experiencing Office 2007 Word or Powerpoint crashes when saving old files to the desktop? Are you using the RC that is currently available?

I just downloaded the Basic Vista drivers from the HP support site ...
Then I use Irfanview to run my C5280 scanner.
I don't like, or trust, the full HP Image Zone download.

W7 Fax n Scanner wizard will scan also ...
about the only thing I can't do is see my printer ink levels.

Thank you to all, but let me further clarify. Is anybody running the RC with the 7280 printer. If so, does the Photosmart 3.5 software work, either in Vista Comp mode or straight install? Can you install all recommended updates either in Vista Comp mode or straight install? I know other software works, and Windows fax and scan works to supplant some functionality, but before I switch I'm seeking to try to maintain my current level of functionality? Thank you again

well, i do have a photosmart c7280 and Windows Seven RC (x64).

i just installed the printer (its connected over network) via the add-printer-functions of Win Seven. that worked flawless.

then i downloaded the full driver-package with all the apps and stuff (it was called 100_228_PS_AIO_02_Full_Net_deu.exe, (1/1 , 198.83M) for me, deu as in german, would be the same with en or something without any problems) and startet it. the installer finished without any troubles and it printed out a test-page. all fine, no problems. i did not even have to enable some compatibility-mode or something.

but one thing does not work: the scan-software from hp throws up with some error-message that the device is allready in use or something and thus refuses to start. i have no clue what the reason might be, but maybe it just needs a boot with the printer allready online.

another point that i did not try out yet is duplex-printing. under vista and xp, duplex did not work for some weird reason and the hp-support told me to install the printer as a deskjet 990c. i didnt had to print out anything yet and thus did not try out the duplex yet. but i would guess that the problem persists.

I have a networked HP C7280 which is primarily used by my computer running Win 7 x64 RC7100.

Everything works normally, including the scanning feature & the double-sided option.
I installed the full function drivers from the HP site for Vista x64 and perservered through any errors, which didn't seem to hinder the installation of the bundle as a whole.

I recently used Google's Picasa 3 to sucessfully scan and fix photos with my setup.

Office 2007 works fine too, even saving files in the older doc format.

I don't fax from the printer, but I do scan from it.

I have a HP C8180 connected wirelessly to the network along with my x64 version of Win7 RC, and I just downloaded the full package for the printer and everything works flawlessly (including the scanner of all things), and I didn't at any stage come across any issues whatsoever, despite Adobe Photoshop's printing service being a little sluggish when I go to print stuff from it.

My C7280 not currently fully installed on Win7

    Hi,
I have a C7280. This was working fairly well on Vista. After updating to Windows 7 (x86 release version from MSDN) there seemed to be more frequent issues, so I decided to try re-installing it...

... the newest HP Vista drivers refuse to install on Windows 7 . They report that the Windows version is not supported; also they refuse to run under compatibility mode .

So I am down to using the plain Windows driver ... print but no scan etc.

I'm just hoping they release the full driver soon.

If you look at HP's Windows 7 Compatibility Table, they claim they have Windows 7 drivers on their website
