scrolling in xp mode windows 7 professional

I run a Quicken programme in XP mode on my Windows 7 professional 64bit pc. My mouse is a wireless mouse 5000 from Microsoft. When I scroll either up or down the actual page movement is down. To get to the latest entry I then have to use the side bar and arrow to acheive this. Using the scroll wheel in Windows 7 gives no problem. Would be great to resolve this. Any help much appreciated.

This is a direct quote from one of our resident geniuses, JMH...

    See if this helps.
Right or left click your [Synaptics, in my case] pointing device, bottom right hand side task bar / notification area - Device Settings tab - Settings - Select Vitual Scrolling & double click it. Have a play with it until you find a setting that you are happy with.
You probably should check Sensitivity too.
Hope that this is what you are after.
Please post back & let us know.

Thank you for your comment. In the normal Windows 7 mode the mouse is set ok. When I go into XP mode the scroll wheel will not perform as it should and the is no way of adjusting the mouse function in that mode. Do you think it is possible to download the xp driver in the xp mode or will it cause a software conflict?

I truly don't think installing an XP driver would be beneficial. What if...

You installed XP using Virtualbox? You would have two operating systems on one computer, one wouldn't interfere with the other, and your Quicken program would run just fine. Virtualbox is free and easy to install.

Hi Lemur, I already have XP on my computer running in virtual pc in Windows 7 Professional and I was wondering if I could install the XP mouse driver into the XP software without causing a conflict.
