hmm i think its a driver problem because as soon as i uninstall the ati drivers it resizes to full screen but when i reinstall them it shrinks and looks blurry so wierd :s
Ordering 1645 today, 1920x1080 or 1600x900?
So your laptop was released with at least with two versions - maybe you got the cheaper 1600x900?
Maybe your screen is actually running 1080i @ 30hz - coz the lead can't support the digi throughput causing the blur!
Spend a fiver on a 1.3c/1.4a certified spec lead from amazon or somewhere. Did your HDMi lead come with the Dell?

This is an interesting (first) read regarding the black bars around a live screen with a Radeon >>>

You could also try using "GPU Scaling" in those menus!I just went through this myself with an Acer P235H. The problem has nothing to do with Acer, and everything to do with ATI. You see, ATI assumes that you'll use your HDMI cable to hook up to a TV. Since most TVs are configured with overscan (i.e. the edges of the broadcasted image don't appear), ATI aggressively defaults to shrinking the image by 15% when using HDMI to ensure that the entire desktop will be visible.
The solution is to install the ATI Catalyst Control Center, available from their website. There's a section called something like "desktops & displays." On the bottom left of that tab will be an area with a small icon of a monitor. Right click on that and select "Configure..." One of the tabs that shows up has a slider for display scaling. Move the slider to 0%, and voila!
Had the same problem with my p2450 syncmaster...if U have ATI card go to Catalyst control center/my digital flat panels/scaling options and adjust the slider so the image fills Ur screen...and make sure that in monitor menu, at setup&reset tab the PC/AV mode is set to PC otherwise the image will be blurry.
p.s. anybody knows why it's not full image fit on default??? my friend ha the same problem on his iiyama LCD with hdmi cable but on the it dvi worked perfectly???
