Monitor prob.

Hey guys...

I am trying to connect my laptop (dell xps1645) to my samsung 24 inch monitor (syncmaster p2450) i am trying to connect them through hdmi because my laptop doesnt have any dvi output but the problem is no matter what resolution i choose to use it wont use the whole part of the screen but when i use an anolog cable to connect to the screen it works proberly but stuck at 1600x1200 resolution and without my precious 1080p quality.

Any thought ?

Thanks

Setting monitor to "Wide" in Samsung menu should do it!

The setting is in "Image Size" menu!

I've got the T260 26" model and it just stretches to cover the few extra pixels, over 1920x1080

Surely that res should fill your screen at 24" 1:1 never looked into how these things work though.

Have you tried resetting your monitor settings completely?

You realise there are two different monitor drivers HDMI you load Samsung digi driver.

Other than that it is possible that the HDMi lead is the wrong spec??
You need HDMI 1.3c spec lead to get up and running without hassles!

Made sure samsung monitor is detected in screen res/colour setup?
Make sure you run WEI if it needs it after changing drivers.

Try screenfit again but reboot the pc!

should be stamped on the lead or printed on packaging

cable i3660 30v 80c 28 awg thats all it says. I have scaled it through Catalyst control settings and now it takes the full screen but its blurry and looks wrong dont know how i can describe it but it looks better with the analog cable and it shouldnt be like that. I might have to try another hdmi cable :/

On the taskbar catalyst red icon
> right click > Radeon 4600 > Set desktop sizes to > HDTV

What res choice is there?

Go in the cat settings > desktop properties and set to 60hz

If you click/open HDTV does 1080p appear?

In catalyst > desktop properties - what is "current mode" saying if you can read it?

Another bloke said he fixed your problem by >
"As for not fitting the screen, I had the same thing, but needed to change the overscan settings in the ATI control panel."

How about this

Uninstall the Ati driver back to basic VGA
reboot
Instal with HDMI lead plugged in and it should find all settings and HDTV/HZ monitor automatically!

Check and rerun WEi if it asks!
