Mouse Problem - It clicks by itself - help

    Hello

I bought a new Acer Aspire laptop with Win 7 a months back. I have a rather annoying problem with the mouse, it clicks itself. For example if I am writing an email or in a text box I will be typing away and then after a few seconds it will move the cursor to whereever the pointer is on the screen, as if I have clicked the left button when I have not. So it either moves it to a different place in the text or clicks off the text box all together. This is very annoying as it means it is so hard to type anything without it moving to another place in the text or clicking on something else. It may just be something in the settings ? Please help.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Several possibilities

    Need a new mouse
    Replace battery
You are getting to close to touch pad
    Update mouse driver.

The biggest potential problem is malware or virus
Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run the full malwarebytes scan. Make sure that you update before scanning.

Have you tried to type with a seperate keyboard. On laptops one very often inadvertently touches the pad and gets unforseen results. You can also try to reduce the sensitivity of your pad.

Hi Rob and welcome to Windows7 Forums

Unfortunately, with most laptops the touchpad is placed below the keyboard. This means that it is very easy to accidentally operate it simply by means of your wrists/hands catching the pad as you type. Check your manual for details on how to adjust the sensitivity level of the touchpad.

I have something similar, posted it. But on my laptop, the cursor moves even if I am 10 feet away from the keyboard. That happens both with the mouse connected and touchpad disabled or with the disconnected and touchpad enabled. No malware nor virus detected. The cursor periodically moves on its own and double clicks when arriving at the new location. So I can't leave the machine on with the desktop displayed as it randomly opens files or run applications. I am currently trying to establish some statistics on the events period.

Do you notice random moves as well without any action ?

I dont think you will get an answer from the original poster. The thread is quite old and the poster only made one post.
