Parallel port (LPT) not working in 7 I've been using Windows 7 RC1 as a clean install.
The computer has multiple drives and I have on each something else installed (XP, 7 and Ubuntu).
I first noticed I couldn't print to my LPT printer in 7 (it works in XP and ubuntu). Then I plugged in some other stuff. Everything works in the other OSs but in 7 the parallel port doesn't seem to be working.
Any ideas? I'm stumped. | My System Specs |

Google doesn't show any problems relating the parallel port and Windows 7. Drivers is the first thing I'm thinking. Can you find the parallel port in device manager ( Win+R, type devmgmt.msc)? If it's not working, it should be under Other Devices with a yellow exclamation mark and may be called Unknown device. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion dv5 OS Win7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Dual 2.16 Ghz Memory 4GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 9200M GS, 256MB Hard Drives 320GB internal, 320GB external, 1TB external to come (big download library XD) |

I have a Brother laser printer hooked up to one of my machines via parallel port, works like a champ - even have it shared...
The trick is to get the parallel port driver from the manufacturer (or off of the CD that probably came with the printer) and load it in. If that doesn't get it installed, then go to the control panel, devices and printers, and have Windows 7 look for the printer. It should find it, but may not find a driver. Browse to the install folder and it should find the ".inf" file it need to do the install. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway, Toshiba Laptop, and Home Brew OS Windows 7 x64 HP, Windows 7 HP, Windows 7 Ult CPU Intel I3, Cerelon, Pentium 4 @ 3Ghz Motherboard Intel, Intel, Asus Memory 8G, 3G, 3G Graphics Card On-board Intel, On-board nVidia, nVIDIA card Sound Card on-board, on-board, SoundBlaster Monitor(s) Displays Hannspree HF237, Toshiba, SyncMaster 931B Screen Resolution default (all) Keyboard standard wired (all) Mouse standard wired (all) PSU 300w, unk, 650w Case black, black, grey Cooling air (all) Hard Drives 1T internal, 320G internal, 160G internal, 1T networked Internet Speed 6M down, 768K up Other Info Home LAN through Linksys hub to 4 port and wireless switch/router.
