Hi,
I'm running 7 Home Premium x64. I'm running a RD session on a terminal server running Server 03 x32. The printer is an HP Laserjet 2200d. It's connected via USB on a DOT4 port. Printers is checked in Local Resources in Remote Desktop connection. The server can see and send print jobs to other printers locally connected to this machine, just not the 2200d.
I have a host of problems.
1. The DOT4 port. I've read that RD doesn't redirect DOT4 printer ports, so I tried the registry hack in the MS knowledgebase to no avail. When I try to change to another port, the printer will not print locally.
2. Incongruent drivers between Local OS (Windows 7) and remote OS (Server 03). When I plugged in the printer for the first time to this machine, Windows 7 detected and automatically installed the HP Laserjet 2200d PCL 5 driver. When I go HP's site to look for drivers for Server 03, the drivers are HP Laserjet 2200d PCL5e, and HP Laserjet 2200d PCL6. I've installed both on the server, and still nothing. I've also tried HP's universal print driver, but on the local OS that renders the printer unable to print locally.
Relevant factors:
1. This printer printed fine from Remote Desktop on the previous local computer, which ran XP Professional. It was connected to this machine by a parallel cable, not a USB cable. I don't know if the port was DOT4 or not.
2. A coworker in the office is using the exact same new machine (we ordered them at the same time) but a different printer. He can print locally and remotely.
