Problems with Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition

Hello all,

I built a new HTPC several months ago and have never been able to get the Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition working properly. I know I have all the hardware for the IR receiver working properly because the remote works just fine. When I try to sync up this keyboard though, it seems that the mouse buttons work, but not the pointer. The media center button works too. When trying to type any letters, only some of them respond and they aren't even typing the correct letter. So, this makes me believe it is a driver problem. However, Microsoft says that no additional software is needed to get this to work on Windows 7 x64.

The type of case I am using is the Origen S14V at www.origenae.com

I have reached out to the vendor of this case, but they were unable to help me. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the IRTrans utility provided by the vendor. All this application does is control the remote that came with the case.
