USB Keyboard sometimes dead after wake-up

When waking system up from sleep state with knocking USB keyboard key - sometimes (pretty frequently) the system wakes up but the keyboard is deadlike - cannot type logon password, cannot ALT-CTRL-DEL, nothing.

That never happens when waking the system up with power button.

Any idea what is wrong???

I've seen that one on a few occasions where the usb model here wouldn't be working forcing a restart. On some occasions that was without sleep enabled as well as when having it set.

If everything else seems normal try unplugging and replugging it back into the same or other port while still in Windows to see if that revives it. Assigning a wav file different from the default Windows selection for "connecting new device" and "disconnecting device" will sound off when and if freshly detected when plugged back in. Otherwise restart time required to see a full restart from each wakeup!

OK - I apllied changes USP power setting as on your screenshot.
Now I am working, Iwill know how it's done after a few sleep/wake-up cycles.

Thanks a lot!

BTW - in my case unplugin/replugging the keyboard does not help at all. I need full system restart to bring keyboard functionality back when this problem occures.

I suspected you would need to right off since this being seen with a keyboard always tends to require a full restart. Basically everything goes lifeless while in sleep mode for many accounting for things like video and sound problems usually being the most common heard about.

The full restart tends to be the solution when something simply does not work upon reawakening! Here when not using the sleep mode option and a program crashing somehow knocks the keyboard out the same applies.

when your machine goes to sleep what have you running? i stream tv to mine(TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again) and the web player they use online automatically changes my power settings to there settings so the player cant go into sleep mode also when i use there plug-in in windows media center it does the same but when i close the web player or windows media center the power settings revert back to what i have set at default(balanced) automatically. but sometimes it fails so i do it manually. do you use anything like this?

also i forgot to mention check your keyboard properties (and mouse) for *enable this device to wake from sleep* (or words to those effects)

Just another thought to mention here would be a look in the bios to make that the usb options for keyboard and mouse are enabled there.
