    Are there good drivers/scan software for HP printers out there


    Have a very trusty HP 7410 All-In-One scanner/printer that has worked well since I bought it I think in 2005.

    But...I can not get the current HP printer/scanner drivers to uninstall/unload and/or can not get the current HP drivers/program system install download to correctly install. This is the only issue and can not get any reply from the HP customer support forums ?

    Can I use a 3rd party scanner driver with the 7410 ? The default Windows 7 Pro system driver runs/works fine for printing...but I have no scanner driver for the HP while I can't get the HP scanner driver to install.

    As far as the other garbage/stuff in the HP main install files...I can work just fine without these programs with comparable apps on my system now. Just really need the scanning features for both work/personal stuff !

    Which drivers did you try?

    HP claims to have a full-featured package for the 7410:

    Software & Driver Downloads HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

    (360MB download.)

    The third-party application Vuescan claims to support the 7400:

    Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet 7400 Scanner Driver and Software

    but it requires that some HP drivers be installed as well.
