Black screen with blue and green dots
I got a black screen and then immediately did a hard restart to avoid loss of data. When I restarted, screen was normal for about 3 seconds and then when to black with blue and green dots. I then went into safe mode (safe mode was acting normal) and tried to restore to previous version, but it didn't work and now I can no longer use safe mode. I then tried using my recovery discs to start from scratch, and it gets to where it's almost finished installing and then blue dots appear on the screen and I am able to move the cursor, but nothing else. I had a Vista disc lying around and wanted to see if that would work and it did to a point. I am now able to boot from the disc and use my computer that way but it's only temporary and will not fully install. In other words, if the computer shuts down, it has to go through the installation process again before starting up and getting to a point where I can use it, but it loses everything like saved passwords and internet history. Or if I remove the disc, the computer will go back to the black screen with blue and green dots after booting up. So basically my computer not good for anything but internet right now. Based on my research, it seems like this might be a graphics issue, but I don't know why the screen is fine when working off a disc and in safe mode, but not from recovery discs. I've tried ruled out a hard drive issue. Any ideas?
