    Video Card

I'm building a new computer AMD Phonom2X4 Model 955 which is a quad at 3.2 gigs with 4 gigs of DDR3 1333 RAM and bought a cheap 28 inch monitor and am thinking about getting a DIAMOND ATI RADEON HD 5570 DDR3 1GB PCI Express Video Card. Does this sound like a strong enough video card if I want to play some game? Do I need a more powerful video card if I have a bigger monitor?

Depends on the games. What are you looking to play?

A general answer would be "yes". Bigger monitors run at higher resolutions and need better graphics cards to drive them.

To be more specific, that card will have no problem running the very high resolution a 28" monitor requires. As in, it will put a decent picture on the screen.

To run a game at a high resolution at a decent frame rate is going to depend on the game. (See Answer #1). :)

I'm not a big game player but I would like to play some games once in a while. I can go as high as $150 for a video card and Fry's electronic has some really good buy so would you have any suggestions?

At the moment, the GTX 260 based cards may offer the best performance for the price. Some may be had for less than $150 (with rebate). For example:

    Newegg.com - Galaxy 60XMH6HS3HMW GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) GC 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

    Which ones?

No one wants to tell you "yeah, you're fine", then have you come back wondering why you can't play Crysis at 1920X1080. Neither do they want to say "no, forget it", if you're going for The Sims.

List a couple of the games you have in mind and it will be easier to give you good advice. :)
