    Reformatting my External Hard Drive

I'm trying to reformat my dad's old 500 GB hard drive. The hard drive is a seagateSD. When i try to open it its really slow and takes like 5 minutes to open a file, so i decided to reformat it and lose the data. I tried to reformat it repeatedy using these settings(Picture Attached) but the bar won't move and eventually gives me this error(2nd Attached Photo) after the first time i went to my computer to retry but instead of the hard drive symbol it showed a NTFS and a white block with little colored things inside.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Go to seagate and download their HD diagnostic tool. Sounds like the HD is toast.

Big fan of killdisk. If that doesn't work then your drive indeed might be on its last legs.
