    USB 3.0 Ports Not Working

I just bought a new Kingston Ultimate 32 GB USB 3.0 flash drive. It works fine in my 2.0 ports but will only light up in the 3.0 ports and Windows 7 64 bit does not see it. I have enabled the USB 3.0 ports in my BIOS and I have got the latest NEC USB 3.0 driver for my MSI P55-GD85 motherboard. The driver does not install correctly and in Device Manger under Storage Controllers I get ACS-6XXX pop up with a yellow caution flag when I do install it. I have tried other drivers as well, but no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

All right my ASUS board did the same thing.

The ACS-6xxx will have to be hidden in Windows Updates. Otherwise it willl continue to install it messing up the right driver.

Give me a couple of minutes.

This is drawn out but necessary. Go to Start> Control panel> Windows Update.
Then as in left picture click Change settings.
Then as in right picture change the drop down curtain to read as mine does. This will keep the ACS-6xxx from reinstalling after we get rid of it.

By the way you have no ACS brand hardware on your motherboard but neither do I.

    That is step one.
Step 2 to come- deleting the ACS-6xxx drivers unless you already know how to do that.

Go into Device manager find all the yellow caution ACS-6xxx right click on each ACS-6xxx individually and left click delete. Rid yourself of each one individually.

Then go to MSI and get the drivers for your board. I think this is the right mother board below but double check.
NEC USB3.0 Drivers Ver: 2.0.4.0 should be the right one.

I have deleted the driver from Device Manager, can I now install my proper one?

Sure if you have it already. Did you do the Windows Update stuff so it isn't reinstalled.

    Just making sure

I did step 1 and have also deleted the driver. I will now run my proper driver install software and see what happens!

For now you will need to leave Win Update as I had you do it.

When ACS-6xxx is downloaded again you will right click it in the "Downloads to install" list and click HIDE Update. Windows Update will ask before installing now.
It won't try to install it anymore.

I tried it but ACS-6xxx keeps coming back even though I select uninstall and check "Delete the driver software for this device" I also double checked that Windows Update was set as you instructed.

Windows Update picture above under "Change Settings" click View Update history.
You will then see a list as in below left pic.
Click Installed updates. Then page on right opens.
Search the list for the ACS-6xxx driver update right click it and then left click Delete.

That gets rid of the driver from the system. Then go back and uninstall the ACS-6xxx in Device manager.
You can install the right one now.

I told you it was a pain and drawn out. Plus I'm doing the Snips as I go..

I did it on mine a couple months ago.
Sorry I forgot a step. My bad.

I don't see any drivers in the list on the right just the list on the left? I also ran windows update, it tried to give me ACS-6xxx as an optional update but I hid it. Does that mean I can change my windows update setting back to where it was?
