Have you installed the latest driver from manufacturers web site? Just because windows says it's up to date doesn't mean it is. Always go to the source for driver updates. Also during an install of a device, sometimes the install gets corrupted so a uninstall and reinstall of device might be in order. Try this option first then we'll proceed from there if needed.

Also; check your system for any bugs...ie.. malware, spyware, adware and Virus's. These can play havoc with your system when trying to install hardware and software. Plus you'll know you have a clean system and piece of mind as well.

Key point for installing usb devices: is to install software first before for making the usb connection. This will cause problems every time.

Did you check your system for bugs? Download and run these and they can be found here.

FREE Great Programs for Windows 7

    1. Malwarebytes
    2. Spybot S&D
    3. Ad-aware
    4. Ccleaner
    5. Auslogics Disk defrager
    6. Auslogics registry defrager

This will insure your system is clean. Norton has been known to cause compatibility issues with software and hardware. Try disabling/uninstall it, then try running you web cam software. If Norton does turn out to be the culprit there are some great free Anti virus software out there which can also be found in above link. The top ones are MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials), AVG, Avast, Kapersky just to name a few.

In your spec's it shows you are using Windows 7 SP1. SP1 is not a final release but an evaluation release and I'm wondering if that is part of your issue. I also believe you mean your camera is a VX-7000 and not a VX-700 since there is not a VX-700 listed on the MS driver download page for webcams. If the following page is not where you got the latest download for your camera I suggest you download it from there and follow the installation instructions exactly. Software Download If this doesn't help I do suggest you revert to uninstalling SP1 and getting back to Windows 7 w/o the SP1 loaded, best of luck.

    Future computer,

First, I don't believe you have a virus.

Now you received a list of nice little programs, but they are not going to fix your problem.

There is one thing I will suggest first.

Anti-virus programs and firewalls are notorious for CAUSING problems.

Here is how we eliminate that possible source of your problems.
    100% uninstall Norton.
100% uninstall any Firewall program, except for Windows Firewall.
100% uninstall any malware or bad guy detector, such as, SpyBot.

Now install Microsoft Security Essentials, which incidentally the majority of the people working this forum use, and turn on Windows Firewall.

    MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials

Now if after completing ALL of these steps, you still have a problem, then let us know.
