You may need to make sure that the previous driver is uninstalled in Device Manager (or even Programs in Control Panel). The re-install the driver from Here

    HP off on a tangent?

I have a B209a-m. Yesterday it told me there was an update. Sooo I proceded to dl with their software. File avaialble was named "test" or something like that. Dl failed. Then tried one more update through their software which returned no available up dates. Since my printer is working I just ignored it and went on.

The fact that the file was called test says that it was either bogus, or a BETA update

Similar problem in New Zealand with installation on this printer Win 7 64 bit. HP Cd Version 14.0.1.
Solution for me was to use propriety software and system restore to uninstall then use only the required software to install. Great care will be needed to prevent HP updates happening. I have no doubt that is what caused the loss of the Solution Center and the ability to scan to PC. Happened three times.
Very suspect behavior by HP: inferring that all components need be installed for correct function and when solutions are sought all the scum ware is loaded automatically.
The dumping price of this printer was $104. Normal retail = $160
