Save your money and do the research with Compaq's recommended ram manufacturers and once you install this you'll understand there's nothing to fear about it. Just don't wear socks and shuffle across the shag carpet building up tons of static then grab the ram ! Always touch something metal and ground yourself before you reach into any computer ! It could be a wife's tail but still worth doing....cheers, good luck and stay in touch with this any any other projects or issues. Welcome to SF !

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com

Just plug in your make, model... etc.

Unless something changed of late, adding/upgrading the memory yourself does NOT void any warranties.

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com buy it straight from the manufacturer! THey also have a system scanner that will tell you everything about your system. How much ram it can take, how much you have and prices.

^^ you guys beat me too....I totally forgot to post that site. It'll scan your PC/Laptop and tell you exactly how much/what kind of ram your system uses.
