    low WEI score for new SSD

    ok guys I have installed the ssd and have successfully installed windows on it. I had to change the disk mode from ahci to ide.

    Ive installed all the drivers but I only get a WEI score of 5.9. Weakest link being the ssd. So something must be wrong. I fully expected the score to be in the mid 7s.

    Why did you have to switch to ide?

    In any case, WEI is not the greatest benchmark. What about boot times and seek times, have those improved?

    IDE is a bottle neck. You couldn't get it to work in SATA?

    boot times are much improved. I had to switch to IDE because the installer kept erroring.

    Is TRIM enabled? And have you followed all the SSD optimization guides?

    When you were installing in Sata mode was the SSD drive the only drive connected?

    At the command prompt type the following:

    fsutil behavior query disableddeletenotify

    If you get

    DisableDeleteNotify = 1

    means TRIM commands are disabled, otherwise if you get

    DisableDeleteNotify = 0

    means TRIM commands are enabled.

    On one of my system it is 5.9 too - with a G2 Vertex 60GB which is well aligned and Trim is working. On another system with a G1 Intel 80GB I get 7.1 which is aligned but no Trim. They are both Sata and no AHCI.
    Since they both work very well (at least to my satisfaction) I never bothered to find out what the fine print is.
