encryption is probably not compatible - Should allow no pw or WEP password... but will fail at anything 'smarter' than that.

Update the Firmware on that router and you should be ok.

What software are you trying to load? W7 should not need any. I take it you are trying to connect wireless.
What brand laptop, is the wireless adapter turned on, dose it see the network, is the network password protected? Try going to the network and sharing center and see if you can set it up from there.

OK - I see the network, but I don't remember my security key.

If you dont remember the pass phrase, than you go on the computer that its wired up to. Open a internet explorer browser and type in the URL bar this:
192.168.1.1
The default password is admin. Leave the username blank and type in the password area "admin"
There you can configure your passphrase and change it.
If you go onto wireless
than go onto basic wireless settings
you should scroll down and see your passphrase only if you have it on "wi-fi protected setup"

If you have changed the default password for your linksys router from before and cannot access the settings page, than your only hope is to reset the router and start from the beggining.

**edit** These steps i wrote should work for your linksys router even though my router is a wrt110. Give it a shot and report back to me if it worked or not

You can go into your router and reset it. Do you have the install manual for your router? Did you set a password for your router?
Try this.
Open your browser enter http://192.168.1.1 leave the user blank and enter admin for the default password.
Look for wireless set up and reset your pass word.
PS looks like I'm a little slow

Thanks everyone - I did it! While awaiting response I figured it out. Made sure I saved all the info this time around.

Guess I'm a bit of a techie after all...
