AOC 2434PW screen size

LCD Monitor 2434Pw-AOC LCD Monitor Australia & New Zealand
Just purchased this monitor with a new system. It says it is capable of 1920x1080 resolution. I set it to that resolution, then found that the screen size shrunk by 2 or 3 cm on ALL sides (not just 2, I think it's 16:9 screen ratio). This same thing also happened when I booted from acronis disk director off a CD. The wierd thing is, however, that it works at full screen size when I have it at 1600x900 (or something in the 1600s).

Matts1:
This sounds like a scaling issue to me.
Here is a link to a site that explains the buried scaling options with ATI Catalyst: How To Get Full Screen With HDMI Cable using ATI

The Acronis thing isn't going to go away- booting from the CD is not using the Windows OS.

It worked great!
I wasn't worried about acronis, but was just using it as something to help debug the problem, so that doesn't really matter.
It's all working well now.
Thanks a heap!

Another problem:
I am hooking it up to my laptop and now having the same problem. This time it won't let me install catalyst control center (laptop has a mobility radeon 4650), only the install manager. Any ideas
