USB HDD keeps askin to be formated in Windows 7

    Hi Guys!
I Have a Toshiba 1TB USB NTFS Hard Drive that keeps asking to be formatted on every Windows PC I plug it in.
The drive still works under Linux, So I backed up my files and then re-formatted the drive with Windows. I started to use the drive again and then when I plug it in to another PC it still asked to be formatted.
I also tried Spinrite on the drive with no luck.

Is there any other tools or programs that could help fix it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Lee

I tried TestDisk already and didn't seem to change anything, there isn't much help on how to use too.
    Thanks

Wow! Spinrite and TestDisk are the 2 best HDD utils out there!

Just a thought then... have you tried a different USB cable?

It is very strange that the drive works fine under Linux but not Windows... it is formatted as NTFS... for sure right?

How does the HDD present under Windows disk management (and Partition Wizard if you have it). Just screenshots would be easier.

Are you connecting power cable last... or turning power switch on only after you have usb connected? Sometimes that can be an issue.

Also, have you tried booting the system with the usb connected and powerd up? If so, any difference?

Just trying to give you something to troubleshoot.

Another thought... since it shows under linux, what does gparted show on this drive? Any hidden partitions?
