Windows 7: Rate my $2500 Build

I understand that. My point is that Intel still considers the i7-900 series chips their premier chip until they are replaced. That the sandybridge chips aren't those replacements. If you look at the reviews, they basically compare to the i7-800 series. That's the way I read it anyway.

This is generally not the case with processors...
It is with motherboards though. I learned this when socket 1156 came out. Got a board and i7860 on the 1st day and the boards were discontinued because of the sockets within 2 months.

I would wait at least 3-4 months before going to a new socket
