my entire system crashed every time I plugged in a device

I ran chkdsk because my entire system crashed every time I plugged in a device- -ipod, blackberry, etc...
However, the computer crashed during stage 5/5, about 49% into it. It stays a 1.8 million files of 4.something scanned, didn't move from there in hours. After a hard reboot, I ran a system check, and it told me that it's not detecting any issues. I can now plug in my blackberry with no issues.... any thoughts on what's going on there?

chkdsk can take hours to finish.
If it didn't outright crash, it was still working, you just won't see it do anything. I have had chkdsk run for an entire day before.

Might want to run Hard Drive diags. But there is no telling what the problem was.
Next time you run chkdsk, let it finish. It is not often that it just stops, unless there are real issues with the hard drive itself. Then it's time to replace it.
