CD ROM -- starts to burn, then resets
An Optiarc DVD RW AD-7241S is installed (and is recognized by Windows).
When a blank CD is used it goes through the normal set of questions asking if it is to be used as a data or audio CD. Everything works as normal...until the BURN button is pressed.
Once the burn button is clicked it starts the burning process with the progress bar appearing showing how much time remains to completion. Then, with the progress bar showing about 20% complete the progress bar window disappears and the window that appears when you first but in a blank CD reappears (the one asking if you want to burn a data or audio CD).
At this point it sounds like the CD is still burning the files. In fact the CD Rom motor will continue to spin the disk until the system is Shut Down. Shut Down is required because if the system is simply restarted the CD Rom will continue to spin through the whole reboot. (Of course, I've tried pressing the button to open the CD tray when the chaos sets in, but that does nothing).
To make matters worse whenever another blank CD is put in it'll let me know that there are files waiting to be burned, which are the ones from the previous attempt.
This is a new development and one that is a real head scratcher.
