When you install DON'T enter a product code. You can then play around with windows 7 for a thirty day trial. Install all your drivers etc and make sure all your hardware is working OK. If it doesn't work out you can install it on another PC as that product code has not been used and the PC was never activated. If it does suit your needs all you have to do is enter the product code and activate it. Personally I stay away from the upgrade versions. Sure there are work arounds to doing a clean install but I'd rather pay a few bucks more and not have to deal with the extra steps. I've also seen a couple threads where the upgrade DVD "from Microsoft" wasn't bootable, throwing another kink in things.

Thanks a lot for that comment Alphanumeric, it never occurred, to me that i could just test out the trial version before activating it (not sarcasm ). Knowing i wont have to buy another copy of windows if the MOBO doesn't work the first time makes me feel a whole lot more confident about this computer I'm building!

Thanks to everyone else as well for your useless useful comments.
