Problems with USB drive

So I'm having a problem with my USB drive. Its a 16gb PNY mini attache and I have music files on it. My car radio has a USB port and can read the music that I have put on it just fine, however when I connect the USB to either my laptop or my desktop (both with windows 7) I cant see the files on it nor can add any more files to the drive. When my laptop had windows vista it did the same thing as well. I've tried to format the drive however my computer then says its unable to locate it and it will automatically disconnect from my computer. It also says under properties of the USB that there is no information on the drive. If you any one has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
