Since were talking about heating and cooling, can you guys tell me which processor heats up more i7 or i5?? is the better the processor the more heat the laptop gets? or it doesn't matter?

If you really want to know, look up the specs of the CPUs and the higher the Wattage the more heat. E.g. the Intel i7 950 has 130 Watt and the i5 661 has 87 Watt (some of the other i5's have 95 Watt). Compare that to an equivalent bulb in your lamp and you know how much heat we are talking about.

I just looked it up on google, and the i7 740 and 840 are both 45 watts...one more question, does the higher the processor effect battery life?

Those are the QM versions for laptops @ 1.7GHz. The more watts it draws, the shorter will your battery stay up. But "battery life" per se (like in total lifetime) is probably little effected.
