    DVD drive keeps ejecting


    Hello:

    My wife put a CD into her drive I have no idea what she did then, and neither has she , and after she took it out, the drive keeps ejecting. At some point, we got the message "Files are waiting to be written to the drive/disk" or something similar. I have had that before on my computer, without too much trouble. However, it would be nice to know why one gets that, but, in particular, it would be great if someone would know how I can get the darn drive to stay closed (it did stay closed for quite a while at one point, but then, it started ejecting again).

    Ok Hans.
    Goto start
    Click on 'computer'
    Doubleclick on the drive you are trying to open.
    You will find that there are probably files waiting to be written to a disc.
    Delete these files and then insert DVD.
    Should work fine then.

Hi all, I was wondering if I would be doing harm to my drive by ejecting and unplugging while there is still power to the drive. Is it basically the same as not ejecting? In XP my drive would power off in Windows 7 it does not.

I run W7 Home Premium. I have a Corsair thumb drive on which I've loaded PStart and a bunch of portable apps. Does anyone know if there's a way to auto-eject this drive upon exiting PStart? (software, regdit, etc.?) Thanks for any help, Dick Y
