Help deciding between Microsoft vs Logitech Keyboard

I currently bought a Logitech Wave Keyboard Newegg.com - Logitech 920-000325 Black 102 Normal Keys 14 Function Keys USB Wired Ergonomic Wave Keyboard for 3 days as a replacement to my Logitech Wireless MK710 Combo Newegg.com - Logitech MK710 Black 7 Function Keys RF Wireless Ergonomic Desktop

I really like my wireless combo in terms of keyboard feel (slim keys/straight keys) and mouse feel but for casual gaming the wireless combo does not cut it. Thus I bought the wired Wave keyboard to solve my problems but I somehow do not like the feel of the keyboard. I Wave keyboard is much better for gaming ad the big palm rest is definitely a plus but the keys a not spaced so well and the slight curve makes my type the wrong keys constantly. I've only had the Wave keyboard for 3 days making me think I'm maybe not use to the feel yet but at this rate I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable with the Wave keyboard despite high praised reviews.

I'm think of returning the Wave keyboard in replacement for this Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard: Newegg.com - Microsoft J93-00001 Black 104 Normal Keys 21 Function Keys USB Wired Slim Digital Media Keyboard 3000 despite the fact that the Microsoft keyboard does not have a cushion palm rest like my current Logitech wireless and the Wave. However I like the keys on the Microsoft keyboard (straight and slim) like my current wireless MK710 and the media keys on the Microsoft one seems better than the Logitech Wave (better placed).

I'm not looking for a gaming keyboard cause it'll be a waste on money for me as I am a full-time desktop user (typing and use media keys a lot) and only a casual gamer.

All thoughts welcome.

I'm a big fan of MicroSoft keyboards and mouses(mice?).

I have 3 PC's - one for gaming, one for internet and media, and another for my digital audio workstation. All home built, and working just fine, thank you :) I've built over 15 PC's in 20 years, from scratch, and upgraded components more times than I can remember.

Wheneven I've tried a Logitech, eventually, the software, or the hardware lets me down. I always end up replacing them with MicroSoft hardware.


It's solid hardware and it works.


But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

PS. Personally, my favorite is the wireless 6000 combo.

If this is what you taking about Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 then that's a sexy combo.

Too bad they do not make a wired version of that keyboard that's was top on my list before I got the Logitech MK710 wireless combo but I chose Logitech because I find their mouse precsion/clicks/scrolling better than Microsoft. However, I do however prefer Microsoft keyboards, I use to have this Microsoft combo Wireless Desktop 3000 before I gave it away to my cousin because I couldn't use the mouse scroll in FPS games and some application. But if you look at the keyboard it's basically the same one as the wired Microsoft keyboard http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=083 I want to get except the wired version has less of a palm rest, I liked they keyboard. I also wouldn't mind my Logitech MK700 keyboard in a wired version either but they don't make it wired.

Edit: My all time favorite keyboard is this http://www.pchardware.co.uk/microsof...rokeyboard.php. Lasted 5 years for me and I just recently donated it to Goodwill in working condition. I would get the same keyboard but compared to recent keyboards, it's very loud and has problems with ghosting and probably has not drivers for Windows 7-64bit (made in 2003). I used the keyboard along side a Logitech MX500 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-93076.../dp/B00006HZ0K which also lasted 5 years and again recently donated to Goodwill on working condition. The Logitech Wave reminds me a lot of keyboard above but the keys are not as well spaced and the curve makes is more difficult to type in my case but it's a lot quieter and had Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

I've decided to keep to Logitech Wave keyboard. Reason being the I chose the Logitech Wave in the first place so it closely match my Logitech M500 mouse also I like the palm rest too much and the fact I only have to use one software for drivers (SetPoint takes care of both Logitech mouse/keyboard) is also a plus; hopefully with time I will get use to the keyboard layout. Besides, I really hate retuning things unless I have no choice like DOA.

And now for a counterpoint opinion. I like Logitech and find that the key stroke and mouse feel on Microsoft keyboards and mice are sub par. I agree that wireless is too slow for gaming and I've gone with the Logitech illuminated keyboard and couldn't be happier. Someday I will move to a wired mouse but I think I will miss the freedom a bit.

What model keyboard of Logitech do you have?

Neat keyboard. No palm rest is a downer, gotta love that cushion. Love the slim keys, layout and spacing between the keys though.
