Good catch whs I keep forgetting these drives are available in 1.8, 2.5 and 3.5 sizes.
Mike are you thinking 3.5 for ease of install ? As I would still go with the 2.5 and the mounting of same I would use a 2.5 adapter if the case came with one or just mount it to the bottom of the case under the first position HDD even if you have to raise it by using velcro dots. This will help to maximize air flow as well as when you want to upgrade you can either use it in a laptop or sell it to someone with either a desktop or laptop.
If you have a Dell Inspiron 530 box, Velcro is your only option. These buggers do not have any disk bays. They srew the disks right to the chassis. What a bunch of morons.
Cooler Master HAF 932 case.
Room is no problem. I have screwless mount cage adapters for 3.5" hard drive bays.
Cage adapters should fit the holes in the SSD just fine.
It will have the 230mm front case fan blowing over it with the other HD's

Yeah I still cant get over the speed - even the installation was lightnining quick. Started install, went to bathroom, came back to see screen was blank -- thought I had an issue -- then relaised it was already done, and going through the 1st reboot!! Thats when I realised exactly how quick these things are....SSD all the way.
Mike, I was thinking all things being equal I'd stay with a 2.5 drive for the resale and or re-use later in a laptop. Plus with the 2.5 you can stick it to the bottom and maintain best air flow over the spinners cause they get warm not the SSD. Cheers
