Cooling Questions

Hello forum!

Decided I would ask here about a Quick cooling Question or 2!
Now one, I'm just looking at my CPU temperatures at the moment, It is Q9400 Wedged underneath a Corsair H50 Sandwiched between 2 Nexus D12SL-12 1000RPM fans. Now with an ambient temperature of 27*C, at about 7% usage and clocked to 2.7GHz it is about 45*c Does that seem right to people? Alot of people seem to be getting lower temperatures, Should I re-apply the paste?

And now one about my GTX470:

With the same ambient temperature, my 470 At stock speeds, pushing out 2 1080P screens just browsing the web, i am getting idle temperatures of 50*C.
Now, I know that the Fermi cards are hot, but is this too hot?
(EDIT: forgot to add. that is at 100% fan speed(LOUD!!!!!))

Mate 50 degree C isnt that bad I have the GTX460M and it idles at 48 C

That's a laptop Chip tho, But thanks anyway
Also did i mention that was at 100% fan speed?

Do you have any compressed air you can clean the heat sink with?

Nah, We don't have any
Though my case hardly gets dusty, as I clean it out every month and have Filters on all the intakes.

The temps are fine at idle it is normal for a card of that status to get that hot on idle
remember not every set up is the same and if you feel you need to cool it down more invest in a vga fan card and put it next to the gpu it will cool it down some

Ussually though for that kind of card i have seen some at almost 60 idle nothing to worry about also try increasing fan speed it will whistle louder but might help you out adding extra fans will help to but unless it idle's something like 70 all the time then i would be worried

In your case you should be fine you can also run a beanchmark test with kombuster see how hot it gets from the stress test if it doesnt go above 81 to 90 then you should be good those cards are tough and can take the heat

But note i added in another post, and will now edit the OP, But that 50*C is at 100% fan speed and idle....

Just ran Kombuster, 32XAA OpenGL 3.0 1920X1080 Decided to stop after 5 Mins when it hit 85*C :S

did it hang at 85 or was it going higher then that ?

Also is that the reason you shut it down the card was still increasing ?

I would buy canned air and blow out the case especially the gpu and see if that helps if any but i would invest in a vga card it would be directly applyed

It just kept on going up..... so i just stopped it....
