    Decrease RAM speed?

    Hello, all. :)

I have here an Acer Aspire T180, and would like to decrease the RAM speed. I think I have some bad RAM, since I keep getting errors in Windows, such as CRC checks, BSODs, etc. This is definitely caused by the RAM.

Memtest86+ and Windows Memory Diagnostic Test both show no errors in the RAM. They used to, but I had a technician clean the faulty RAM stick, and now it brings up no errors.

I believe this is because MemTest86+ is testing it at a slower speed than Windows uses. I would like to decrease the maximum speed at which the RAM is used, to avoid corruption etc.

I can provide any necessary details if asked for them.

I need this done by tonight, realistically, so any help is greatly appreciated. :)

    Thanks,
    Tom.

Check your BIOS and see if you can change your RAM speed there.

If memtest doesn't fail after an hour or more of running, it could be your processor or MB. You might try swapping out memory cards to try to identify if a particular memory stick is faulty.

Run prime 95 blend test too - that is memory intensive.

I ran Prime95, and that turned up no errors.

I'm putting the errors down to a corrupted Windows installation (probably caused by the previously faulty RAM!). I wiped the hard drive, re-installed Windows, and all seems well so far.

As far as I'm concerned, this can be marked as solved! Thanks for the assistance. :)
