Windows 7: Hdd big problem

Hdd big problem

I've decided I HATE partition programs. So I literally bought this laptop yesterday. I installed Windows 7 on it and everything was working fine until I tried resizing the Vista partition. I tried using Paragon, but it said it wouldn't work on x64. I tried using Hiren's BootCD which just made everything worse. One of the programs on there I tried to use told me that the length of the HDD or something wasn't correct and it needed to be fixed, so my dumbass clicked ok. Now, even though the HDD is connected to the computer, it basically is disconnected. When I try to start Windows (Vista and 7) I get a BSOD. I tried startup repair, no installations showup. I tried reinstalling Windows Vista x64, Windows 7 7229 x64, and Windows 7 7100 x86, and all give an error about the HDD. Further more only the OEM and Recovery partitions showed up when I tried to install, so I formatted the Recovery partition to install Windows which gave an error. I went back to Hiren's BootCD and tried looking at the HDD in the programs, and in one it said Bad HDD, the other said Invalid. Now what? lol.

Man that sounds like a clusterf#$k.

So correct me if I am wrong but it sounds from your post that your OS installation program is not even recognizing your hard drive properly? Because it should report the full size of the hdd and whatever jacked up partitions you have and then you can delete them all and start over from scratch.

If that does not work, grab a copy of ubuntu and slap that in there and see if that sorts your problem. Ubuntu has some sweet partitioning tools and so on in their install program so you may be able to rectify it from there. Let me know if you need more help or if any of the crap I spouted worked for you. Good luck mate.

It recognizes the HDD, but only 2/4 partitions, on the Vista install it located all 4 and said the other two were unallocated. I'm not really sure what to do at this point, but I will try the Ubuntu.

EDIT: I booted into something called PartedMagic, I ran a TestDisk, and it shows all of the partitons, but I get this message:
Boot sector
Status: OK

Backup boot sector
ntfs_boot_sector: Can't read backup boot sector.
Status: Bad

Sectors are not identical.

A valid NTFS Boot sector must be present in order to access any data; even if the partition is not bootable.

Looks like your MBR (master boot record) got fragged. Try Ubuntu mate and let me know how it goes.
