Pretty much what I was going to ask while doing some searching. As long as the SSD will fit in the old drives cage and has the proper connections it should work.
I was also going to suggest linking us to the drive you purchased.
While doing some searching for replacement "original drives" They caution about the drive needing to fit the original case.
