Windows 7: Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum

Hello. When I install my sound blaster X-FI platinum, windows dont boot(black screen for hours). I got the right drivers from creative, updated windows, my sound card works properly on windows xp and on 4 of my other computers using windows xp,98 and linux. I can't boot windows with the F8 options either. The point is that it's said to be compatible and I don't want to buy another sound card because of my windows 7 64 bit. Maybe I should not update my windows? It's the 6th time I format my HDD and re-install windows 7 so I need help on this please! I have found out that my sound card works without the windows updates tho but why buy a legal windows if I can't update it?...
