I have a Dell XPS M1530 with 3GB of Ram. I wanted to upgrade my laptop to 8gb of Ram so I got RAM as a Christmas present. It was DDR 3 RAM at 204 pin. I came to find out that I actually needed DDR2 at 200pin. I believe I can return them but here is what really sucks: all the DDR2 Ram is extremely expensive compared to DDR3. All the DDR3 Ram I had looked at was in the range of $100-$150; now the DDR2 Ram I look at is between $220 and $400. Where could I find 8gb of DDR2 Ram(200pin) for a cheap price($100-$150 considering that the DDR3 was in this range)?

Here is what I found at the cheapest price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226047 and 2 reviews says it's compatible with my laptop

I didn't think that $150 for 8gb of RAM was bad at all; that's why I'm angry that the price on DDR2 is that much more expensive when I am just getting the same amount(8gb)

You sure that it will even take 8 GB? Unless yours is an updated version from what is listed here,

XPS M1530 Laptop | Dell

it says up to 4 GB max.

Yea, I got the BIOS updated so I am sure the motherboard will accept it. My problem is that it physically dosn't even fit into the slot

I wouldn't count on it as bios updates very rarely (more like never) have changes like that in them. Before trying to exchange what you have you might want to confirm that it will in fact support up to 8 GB of ram.

No it's not a bad price at all but DDR2 is on the way out so the price goes up:(.
