| | Amd athlon 64 x2 Quick question here: I've got an AMD ATHLON 64 X 2 designed for a type 939 socket, is it possible to use this processor in an AM3 socket? If not anyone want to buy one? |

| | Processors will only fit the socket that they are designed for, so one designed for socket 939 will not fit socket AM2/AM3. Even if they can be physically inserted, the pin layout can change rendering the chip inoperable and potentially damaging the chip and/or motherboard should it be powered up. |

| | Figured just as much. I was hoping there was some form of down grade compatibility as with USB 3.0 and SATA III 6 GB/s has... oh well. |
