Windows 7 - I think i have a bad dvd burner |

I think i have a bad dvd burner Every time I try to burn a DVD I get this error.
I was reading around and someone said; "Sounds like a bum drive. Invoke warranty replacement, or get a new one if it's out of warranty." and they had the same error as I did when they were burning.
If any one knows what this error means please tell me so I can buy/replace whatever is wrong.
PS: I think I might buy an external DVD Burner today and a different type of DVD | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Lenovo OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Geforce 9800GTX+ Monitor(s) Displays Dell 22" Screen Resolution 1440x900 Mouse Razer Death Adder Hard Drives 1TB, 120GB External |

have you tried a different kind of DVD or CD? either manufacturer or burn speeds?

probably a bad drive... but there is still a chance its a compatability issue I'm trying a different brand of DVD right now and I set the burn speeds to 4x, but on the DVD case it says 16x i'm not sure if I should burn that fast people say there is a better chance of an error. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Lenovo OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Geforce 9800GTX+ Monitor(s) Displays Dell 22" Screen Resolution 1440x900 Mouse Razer Death Adder Hard Drives 1TB, 120GB External |

yeah I would definately try at a lower to medium speed. Most burners/media are compatible, but there are a couple still out there. | My System Specs | | |

I'll post after it finishes if it works and do you know of a good external DVD burner that won't cost too much? I'm in the US if you need to know. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Lenovo OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Geforce 9800GTX+ Monitor(s) Displays Dell 22" Screen Resolution 1440x900 Mouse Razer Death Adder Hard Drives 1TB, 120GB External |

I agree with brady
Unable to recover the TOC is usually a less then optimal cd burner in combination with a not/only merely compatible disc.
The problem is not only finding a brand that matches your burner. Depending on where/what you buy you don't have always the same blanks in the same package. I had more than once Disks from 2 or 3 different manufacturers in one 50-pack.
So I guess it's going to be a new burner in the long run.
I didn't find a matching driver update on LG's page which would have been something else to try | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP m8000n OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86 CPU DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2600 MHz 5200+ Motherboard Asus M2N68-LA (Narra) Memory Samsung 2GB DDR2 Graphics Card Onboard NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Sound Card Onboard nVIDIA nForce 6100-430 (MCP61P) Monitor(s) Displays Westinghouse 19" LED Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech Classic KB 200 Mouse Standard HP opticle USB mouse PSU Stock (HP) Case Stock (HP) Cooling Stock Hard Drives SATA II Seagate Barracuda 500GB
