Desktop not picking up NTFS USB Drive
Hi guys, I've got a bit of a problem. I just picked up a 16GB PQI usb drive and cannot get my desktop to pick it up. Here's what I've done so far:
Drive formatted to NTFS/exFAT (tried both formats) on my netbook, but the drive is not found on My Computer on desktop. However, when the drive is formatted in FAT32 from netbook, the desktop will pick up the drive no problem. In NTFS/exFAT format, the netbook picks up the drive just fine. I've tried different ports on the desktop with no luck..
I tried changing the Drive letter, going into Disk management and changing the Policies to Optimize performance and such. I've also tried going into DOS to manually format the drive, as well as convert from FAT32 to NTFS. My desktop still will not pick up the drive.
However, when I plug the drive in, Windows will give me the sound notification that a device has indeed been plugged in. But nothing will show up anywhere on the systray, My Computer, or Disk Management.
Also, I've noticed in Control panel, under Device and Printers, I will see an icon corresponding to the drive, saying "PQI USB Flash Drive" with the PQI icon.
Keep in mind, this is when the drive is formatted in NTFS and exFAT. The desktop will have no problems reading the drive in FAT32. I'm currently using Windows 7 x64 Professional.
Anyone know what's up? I have a feeling it may be my desktop that's having issues, rather than the drive, since I can get the netbook to recognize the drive in any format. But of course, I could be wrong.
