Printing PDF files

Recd. a new computer for Christmas with Windows 7. The only problem I am having is prining PDF files from sites on the Internet.

No problem printing files already saved. When I go to print from a site on the Internet using the printer icon on the PDF page, the print screen flashes without giving me time to read it and then nothing happens. The file does not appear in the print que. Also, the Save function doesn't work either.

All the print functions are shaded in the File tab - so is Save and Save As. So, nothing happens when I try to go this way.

If I should be in another folder, please let me know.

He did say that save and print options were greyed out on the file tab Sledge. It could be that the PDF files have some sort of protection enabled. If they have then the easiest way to print a PDF page is to use the snipping tool in Win 7. Take a snip of the section you want to print. Save it as a .jpg. Open the .jpg and print it. Simples.

Printing from a snipping tool just prints a pic (that's not the same) at least you'd have to run that clip by a OCR program (Optical Character Recognition) to convert it to some form of printable/editable text format.

Unless someone has Adobe Acrobat as opposed to the free reader, then isn't the pdf file also not editable?

Thanks you very much for your help. On my old computer (XP), I have saved and/or printed hundreds of PDF files. I have been using computers since the 80s (YIKES!) before Windows was invented. I'm better with software than hardware.

Since the save is shadowed, I can't save it. The save feature on the PDF doesn't work either.

I have tried to save/print several PDFs and none work. Files that I had previouslsy saved on my old computer and transferred to the new are all able to print.

I would suspect there is some security setting in your browser or you anti-virus that is preventing it. I was able to view/download/print the linked file.

First suggestion,assuming you are using I.E. 8, go to Internet Options (Tools/Internet Options) and click on the Advanced Tab. Click the "Restore Advanced Settings" button and then Apply. Restart I.E. and try the PDF again.

Thanks very much for your help. I followed instructions, but nothing seemed to work. As a last resort, I installed Firefox and it worked fine. I guess there's a security setting hiding somewhere that won't let me print/save from IE.
