I'm helping a friend with her Windows 7 Home Premium computer that I made for her. She was having problems with the printer, (personally I think all that was wrong was it was off), but in her own efforts to fix it, she went through the install wizard and incorrectly installed the printer as a virtual USB001 printer.
I have tried just about everything I can think of and I cannot delete this printer. I've disconnected the printer. I delete it but windows still thinks it is attached (I'm assuming a registry entry somewhere) and it simply re-installs it. I've killed the print spooler, deleted the device and I reboot and it is still there. I've searched the web and found solutions that use the Device Print Manager utility but unfortunately since she has Home Premium, she does not have this utility.
I've downloaded the latest driver
from HP (Deskjet 4360) and done an install that way, but to no success. I know that now the real problem is this incorrectly installed virtual printer but until I can delete it I can't install the correct printer.
Any ideas/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
