Hard Drive Size??

Hey Guys/Gals... I have an Gateway MX6959 Laptop all stock but the Ram(4gig) and Windows 7. I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can upgrade the hdd to 500gig? I can not find anywhere that will tell me what this laptop will support?

That should not be a problem. The rest of the system is not sensitive to the HDD size. Just make sure you properly transfer your system and files from the current HDD - e.g. by using an image.

Thanks that is what I needed to know and what I was thinking myself...The transfer won't be a issue I image my system weekly with Acronis System Image & Acronis Disk Director and will do so just before I transfer. Thanks for the heads up though!

I know i might be out of line but why not get a external drive that way you can just plug it in usb or what ever

reason why i am saying this is covience and less hagling with taking everything apart

also you can use E-sata be almost the same thing as being installed

jeepmann4x4,
Try this on for size, pull the stock hard drive out and drop it into an external usb case, like this.
Ineo I-NA208U All-In-One Portable Storage - Leather Pouch, Business Card Holder, 2.5 SATA to USB, Black at TigerDirect
Then drop one of these bad boys in the laptop for speed, heat and battery life !
Samsung 470 Series MZ-5PA064 Solid State Drive - SATA II, 64GB, 2.5 MZ-5PA064/US at TigerDirect
Just for the OS and Applications then all the data goes to the old drive in the external case then later pump the capacity to 500-750gb!
