Did you load your drivers? Also check your bios for anything that is kinda off, Like boot sequence make sure your drivers are installed. May also want to check your bios to see what version they are so that you can look up and see what the newest bios version is to determine if something was fixed in that release.

    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-EX38-DS4 (rev. 1.1)

May Also remove the other drive you have installed then try to format and install

Have you tied to format Disk 0, assuming thats where you want to install to? Then create the New Volume?

Would be motherboard drivers, would be with your motherboard. Typically Raid Drivers. As your not doing any kind of raid Though still may have drivers on your motherboard install disc. Try inserting the disk into the drive and loading drivers.

Follow this tutorial. SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Leave the second hard drive unplugged.
Windows will get drivers to make the system operate.
The screen resolution might be off but usable.

Screen resolution will work right once you get the opportunity to install the Nvidia drivers after the install of Win 7.
Also when done installing Win 7 go to Gigabyte and get the latest mother board drivers also.
