The only new thing on the Intel front in the last few months has been the z68 chipset and related motherboards---and some new SSDs.

My only suggestion is go to technical sites and read reviews of the people who have bought the parts you are interested in. Accept the fact that all manufacturers put out a doa board sometimes and some of the negative reviews are from people who have made mistakes in putting the system together. But, when you see some of the same issues come up in several reviews, accept that there may be a problem there. Do your homework before buying.
