    Don't panic. Help is here - LOL. For formatting use the free bootable CD of this program (on the left side of the webpage). Then you are independent of the OS.

    Btw: Deacon is right. Raid does not buy you a lot. If you really, really want OS performance, spend $100 and get a 60GB SSD for the OS. That will make a real difference.

    I've never used the built-in app, but I thought you booted off the DVD and then had an option to get into restore mode and load a previously created image. If the image is on the 750 GB, I'd assume you couldn't restore it to that drive, but it should let you choose the 640 GB.
