Move OS from one disk to another?

    Hi :)

Windows 7 continues to restore a system image to the same disk. Problem is that I don't want the OS to be installed onto that disk. What can I do to stop that from happening?

I've got a 640gb disk on which the system image is backed up; a 1.5tb disk where the OS is continually installed; and a 750gb disk which is where I want the OS to be.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Best to use wbadmin commands to do that.

I believe you can fool the GUI by plugging the target HD into the sata port originally used for the source HD.

It is not unusual to get a message about the disk not being suitable for image restore.

Windows system image gui implementation has limitations.

I would suggest you use a 3rd party imaging app. instead.

There are some good free ones.

You need to check the recovery disc (that is run off from within the free apps.) works with your system.

Another suggestion is to pull all unused drives from the system until you get the OS booting. As I said in one of your other threads....given the amount of time you've spent on this, I'd just do a fresh install.
