My Seagate 7200.11 drive is failing (no surprise). I always use smart enabled and luckily I got to see the warning dialog in w7 :)
Just sharing the screen, I hope you don't see it.
I am open to suggestions for new HDD. I am looking for something reliable rather than fast.
Sorry to see that. I just got two new Western Digital drives. I have used Western Digital for 12 years and have never had one fail. I am STILL using an 8GB WD 3.5" drive that was in my 1st computer. I hav Ubuntu installed on it and it still works fine!
Talking about HDD choices is a lot like talking about religion and/or politics. That having been said, I favor WD. I've used them for 10+ years and never had one fail. Replaced, yes, but for size issues - like my pants, they just seem to shrink with time :)

Hard to say which are more reliable.
PCPro mag gave great review to Seagate 7200.11 640gb ( faster than those based on 250gb platters). 5 year warranty and good power consumption as well as good performance - but is expensive for the size.
Exactly... I was checking the product range's of seagate,wd and samsung they are all after fancy labels and names. Lots of codes and labels and you confuse them. Ex. Blue series of WD are supposed to be pro products but not in the desktop caviar line. I still have my old HDDs and they perform great, not even a warning in smart.
